Akeso Sports Medicine & Concussion is a global consulting and personalized physiotherapy service. Providing honest, practical, and academic forward physiotherapy and performance coaching since 2015.

Kosta Ikonomou

I have over a decade of professional experience combining clinical expertise with elite sports involvement. I've served as a physiotherapist for Chelsea FC Academy in London, where I managed on-field injuries and collaborated with a diverse team. Concurrently, I conducted pre-season screenings for the GB Olympic diving team. My passion is assisting diverse private patients in achieving their health and fitness goals.

Currently, I am the team physiotherapist for the Vancouver Bandits, a professional basketball team in the CEBL. I hold a master's degree in Sports Medicine, Exercise, and Health from University College London, along with a FIFA Sports Medicine Diploma. My educational background also includes a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Brunel University and a BSc in Human Kinetics from the University of Fraser Valley. I've pursued postgraduate certifications in corrective exercise specialist, Dry Needling, and Vestibular Rehabilitation from Duke University.

I emphasize evidence-based treatments and data-driven healthcare advancements in my research. I've presented my research at conferences, including the British Association of Sport and Exercise Medicine's annual fall conference in 2018 and the 6th International Conference on Concussion in Sport in Amsterdam. My work has focused on the effects of fatigue on the vestibular oculomotor screen in male university rugby and sedentary participants. I've applied this expertise to assist U-sports and Olympic snowboard athletes in concussion and vestibular rehabilitation.

Mission

My mission is to provide honest, practical, and bespoke physiotherapy care. I am dedicated to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of my patients through the commitment to integrity, personalized treatment, and evidence-based practices. Vision

My vision is to be a beacon of knowledge, guiding my patients towards a future where they understand, manage, and improve their injury, quality of life, and performance. I am dedicated to inspiring and empowering individuals to overcome challenges and become the best version of themselves. I envision a world where my clinic is synonymous with education, motivation, and transformative patient experiences.
